| Women's Equality Day & the Female Nipple Posted: 25 Aug 2008 06:08 AM CDT ![]() August 26 is the eighty-eighth anniversary of the Nineteenth Amendment, giving women the right to vote. In 1971 Congress designated the day as Women's Equality Day—which is the day Hillary Clinton will be addressing the Democratic Convention—a sad irony , not lost on women, regardless of their personal like or dislike of the woman. In conjunction with Women's Equality Day, August 23 was celebrated in various spots around the country as a sincere Go Topless Day. Now you might think a protest like this would have four girl gone wild types and three thousand guys. But, in Venice Beach, California—it was pretty well represented by women with saggy boobs, as well as lemons and some nice knockers too---in other words, a cross-section of ordinary women:![]() And some men joined in . This was nice, even though I am sure there were more than would have been marching in an Equal Pay demonstration. By all accounts, it went well, and there were no arrests. Before long I expect that California will be like New York City—where toplessness is not only not a crime—but if a cop arrests the girl, he gets his butt sued. Certainly California is a more environmentally friendly topless zone:![]() But, if you look closely at the two chicks at the top of this post, who participated in the Venice Beach protest, you will notice they are wearing natural looking nipple-pasties. This illustrates one of the strangest aspects of boob-a-mania and boobphobia. In America big jugs are the cultural ideal, and the public display of awesome cleavage is strongly encouraged. It is ok to display virtually the entire boob, but don't let a bit of the areola slip out:![]() And just like there are disgusting designer vaginas, plastic surgeons are doing areola reductions. There is even a web site devoted to highlighting celebrities who were caught baring a millimeter of areola. This important service is known as Nipplewatch. Tipper Gore's nemesis, Frank Zappa, was on to something when he noted that without the nipple, all boobs are is a lump of fat.Just listen to this disturbed gentleman: Ok he is just a clownish poser--but the point is well taken. I was not aware of the jollies some guys get out of mammary gland erotica, until I broached the subject of breastfeeding on this blog a couple of times. And every day I get a few hits from guys searching for such things as "erotic lactation" and "drinking boob milk".However, this spectacularly odd perversion must be be fairly widespread—or else the peculiar way our society treats women's nipples, as opposed to the rest of the boob, would not exist. The main reason women should not be prohibited from going topless is the inequality of it. Why should I have to cover up , when fat guys can prance around with flabby breasts much larger, and certainly more offensive, than my diminutive C cups? In order for the government to treat different classes of people differently, the Fourteenth Amendment requires that there be a "rational basis" for the disparate treatment. There is no rational basis for requiring women, but not men, to cover their nipples----only a perverted one. ![]() ![]() P.S.--I hope they have grown up, but if the past is any indication, soon Google will stop shooting Adsense advertisements to this post, and they will be replaced with Public Service Announcements. (Update--same old Google--no Adsense ads on the permanent link of this post, although for now they are still showing on the front page--the reason this is important is that if I was a person who was trying to do anything but earn my weekend drinking money off the blog, I would not bring up topics like this). See it is not just morally righteous Republicans that have a problem with women's breasts. Hip Internet companies do as well, and like Tipper Gore, are actually worse on this type of thing than that wing of the GOP which cares about individual liberties, and does not embrace Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee. And Google is not alone—for the past year Facebook has been purging photographs of women nursing their babies, and in some cases deleting the accounts of these mothers. Digg banned me as an adult site over another one of my booby posts--even though it was more or less a feminist type critique, similar to the discussion here. The pseudo geeks at Digg don't really like women much anyway--and as other have also found--gay girls in particular. ~Becky |
